60 years ago, we didn't have an outdoor event industry.  It started with: The 60s: • The birth of outdoor music festivals like Monterey Pop Festival in California and Woodstock in NYC. The 70s and 80s: • The success of Woodstock inspired the growth of outdoor music festivals such as Glastonbury, Live Aid and Burning Man. • The outdoor event industry began to attract corporate sponsorships, leading to more professional and financially viable events. • The industry diversified beyond music to include outdoor theater, art festivals, food and wine festivals, and sporting events like marathons and triathlons. Then in the 90s and 2000s we saw: • Technological advancements in sound, lighting, and stage design. • Globalisation of major outdoor events thanks to the internet, cable and pay-per-view television, drawing international audiences. • Establishment of dedicated companies specializing in outdoor events, driving growth and innovation in the industry. By the 2000s, the outdoor event industry had become a major economic force, contributing significantly to local and national economies through tourism and hospitality. Here’s a new twist: a former IMAX theater is being transformed into a five-story Jurassic-themed playground. 🦖✨ The new Jurassic Jungle at Thanksgiving Point in Utah (midway between Salt Lake City and Provo) offers kids and families an immersive experience packed with interactive teaching elements, games, missions, and hi-tech wristbands that track progress as they play and learn.
